Very nice song- with an updated and more upbeat and edgy production i am sure it can attract lots of attention - especially if it will be sung from the right person.

Instead of downtempo it will work much better in a midtempo basis. Add a few dry and straightforward lyrics if you target young people-they don't understand poetry and romance these days-make it darker if you want instead of sad-show attitude and not just sadness. A very limited and discreet touch of electronic sound at the beginning and before the chorus will be excellent I think (not a William Orbt rip off of course- an electro underground beat in a commercial song) and sing it louder be less sweet and more dramatic and dry.

Finish the song in the most unexpected way with a nice melody of electronic guitars piano and drums-male it anthemic when people less expect it- deliver a surprise when they don't expect it-this will make them to want and listen it from the beginning until the end.

Play in your studio you may like my suggestions.
